  1. Question 1 · Totals

The over/under for Texas @ Ole Miss was 20.5. Texas scored 10 and Ole Miss scored 11. Which side won?

    Show the answer

Answer: Over. 10 + 11 = 21 points, and 21 is more than 20.5, so the Over wins. Who won the game doesn’t matter for a total.

  2. Question 2 · Odds

You see a bet at -110. How much do you need to bet to win $100?

    Show the answer

Answer: $110. A minus number is how much you bet to win $100. -110 means bet $110 to win $100. Smaller: bet $11 to win $10.

  3. Question 3 · Odds

You see a bet at +200. How much do you need to bet to win $100?

    Show the answer

Answer: $50. A plus number is how much you win on a $100 bet. +200 means $100 wins $200, so half that, $50, wins $100.

  4. Question 4 · Odds

You bet $11 at -110 and it wins. How much profit do you make?

    Show the answer

Answer: $10. -110 is the same as bet $11 to win $10. You also get your $11 back, so you walk away with $21 in total.

  5. Question 5 · Odds

You bet $100 at +200 and it wins. How much do you get back in total?

    Show the answer

Answer: $300. You win $200 profit, plus the $100 you bet comes back to you: $300 in total.

  6. Question 6 · Odds

You bet $50 at -200 and it wins. How much profit do you make?

    Show the answer

Answer: $25. -200 means bet $200 to win $100, which is bet $2 to win $1. Half of $50 is $25.

  7. Question 7 · Spreads

You took UConn +3.5 at South Carolina (women’s college basketball). South Carolina won 70–68. Did your bet win?

    Show the answer

Answer: Yes, it won. With +3.5, UConn can lose by up to 3 and you still win. They lost by 2, so your bet wins.

  8. Question 8 · Spreads

You took South Carolina -3.5. They won 75–72. Did your bet win?

    Show the answer

Answer: No, it lost. With -3.5, South Carolina has to win by 4 or more. They won by 3, so the game was a win but the bet loses.

  9. Question 9 · Spreads

You took the Bills -3. They won 24–21. What happens?

    Show the answer

Answer: Push: you get your money back. They won by exactly 3, the same as the line. That’s a tie with the line, called a push, and your bet is refunded.

  10. Question 10 · Totals

South Carolina vs UConn had a total of 141.5. The final was 72–68. Which side won?

    Show the answer

Answer: Under. 72 + 68 = 140, which is less than 141.5, so the Under wins.

  11. Question 11 · Moneyline

In a WNBA game the Liberty are -150 and the Aces are +130. Which team is the favorite?

    Show the answer

Answer: Liberty. The minus number is the favorite. You have to risk more ($150) to win $100 on the Liberty because they’re expected to win.

  12. Question 12 · Moneyline

You bet the Liberty moneyline. They won 81–80. Did your bet win?

    Show the answer

Answer: Yes, it won. A moneyline only asks who wins. Winning by 1 counts the same as winning by 30.

  13. Question 13 · Parlays

You made a 3-leg parlay. Two legs won and one lost. What happens?

    Show the answer

Answer: The parlay loses. Every leg of a parlay has to win. One losing leg loses the whole ticket.

  14. Question 14 · Units

Your unit is $20. You post a bet for 2u. How much money is that?

    Show the answer

Answer: $40. A unit is your normal bet size. 2 units at $20 each is $40.
